SMS Terms & Consent
Version 1.0 · Effective July 13, 2026 · Initial publication, covering the Owlsight SMS notification system.
In plain English
What text messages Owlsight sends, how you consent, how you stop them, and what it costs you. Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.
THIS PAGE EXISTS FOR TWO REASONS. First, because you deserve to know exactly what you're agreeing to before a business starts texting you. Second, because mobile carriers require a publicly reachable disclosure like this one before they will allow any business to send application-to-person messages at all — and quite right too.
Who sends the messages
The Owlsight platform sends text messages ON BEHALF OF THE BUSINESS YOU ARE A CUSTOMER OF — your plumber, your HVAC contractor, your lawn care company. Owlsight provides the software; the business decides what to send and to whom.
Messages are delivered through Twilio.
What we send
Only transactional messages about work you have arranged. Specifically:
- Appointment confirmations when a job is booked.
- Appointment reminders, roughly 24 hours before.
- "Your technician is on the way" — sent by a human, when they are actually on the way.
- Job completion notices.
- Quote, invoice, payment and overdue notices, where the business has enabled them.
WE DO NOT SEND MARKETING TEXTS. No promotions, no newsletters, no "we miss you". If you get one, something is wrong and we want to know.
How you consent
You consent by giving a participating business your mobile number in the course of doing business with them — booking a job, requesting a quote, becoming a customer — where you were told that number would be used for service messages.
CONSENT TO RECEIVE TEXT MESSAGES IS NOT A CONDITION OF PURCHASE. You can decline and still be a customer; you'll just get a phone call or an email instead.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message. That's it.
- STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT will all opt you out.
- You will get one final message confirming you've been unsubscribed, and then nothing.
- Your opt-out is recorded against your customer record IN THE BUSINESS'S OWN SYSTEM, not only at the carrier. Nothing in the platform — no automation, no workflow, no reminder rule, no staff member pressing a button — can text you after that.
- Reply START or UNSTOP if you change your mind.
You can also just ask the business to switch you off. They can do it from their own screen.
Help
Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact the business directly.
If you cannot resolve it with them, contact Owlsight at hello@owlsight.app.
Cost and frequency
- MESSAGE AND DATA RATES MAY APPLY. Your carrier charges you, not us — check your plan.
- Frequency depends on the work you have booked. A single job might generate three or four messages; there is no recurring campaign and no fixed schedule.
Carriers
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We cannot guarantee delivery — a carrier can filter or drop a message for reasons neither we nor you control.
Your number
Phone numbers collected for SMS are used to send you the messages above. THEY ARE NOT SOLD, RENTED, OR SHARED WITH THIRD PARTIES FOR MARKETING PURPOSES, and consent to receive messages is never transferred to anyone. See our Privacy Policy.
If you are a BUSINESS using Owlsight to text your customers
Then this section is the one that matters to you, and it is short.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR HAVING CONSENT FROM EVERY PERSON YOU TEXT. The Telephone Consumer Protection Act provides for statutory damages PER MESSAGE, and the usual shape of that claim is a class action. It is one of the few ways a small business can generate a genuinely ruinous legal bill out of an ordinary afternoon.
We have built the platform to help you get this right:
- Every rule is OFF by default. Nothing texts anyone until you deliberately switch it on.
- An opt-out is enforced in the database, before the message provider is ever called.
- Every send — and every send we REFUSED, with the reason — is logged, so you can prove what happened.
But the tooling is not the consent. The consent is yours to obtain, and yours to be able to evidence.
Something here unclear, or wrong? Tell us — we would rather fix it than have you agree to something you didn't understand. Get in touch.
